Lindsie Vizethann has always been committed to helping others achieve their health goals. Her passion began in the demanding halls of an ER, where she worked as a nurse. Despite her success, and being on a management track, Lindsie felt a growing discontent. The fast-paced environment and the emphasis on quick fixes clashed with her desire to truly help people heal.

The Transition: From Nursing to Fitness

In search of a more fulfilling way to assist others, Lindsie made a bold move. She left her nursing career and, with the support of her husband, opened a kickboxing gym. This venture allowed her to combine her passion for fitness with her professional skills. “I was always the workout freak,” Lindsie recalls, “but I didn’t realize how much nutrition played a role in that at the time.” The gym thrived for nearly five years before the couple decided to sell it, prompting Lindsie to explore new ways to expand her expertise.

ISSA Certifications and Expanding Expertise

Throughout her journey, Lindsie continuously sought to deepen her knowledge and credentials. She earned multiple certifications from the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), including:

These certifications not only broadened her skill set but also reinforced her holistic approach to health and fitness. “I may not be the expert in everything, but if I have a good foundation, I can help my clients and refer them to specialists when needed,” she explains.

Discovering Health Coaching and Flowell

The concept of health coaching was relatively new to Lindsie until early 2023. As she prepared to transition from gym ownership, she realized the potential to make a more significant impact by focusing on the whole person rather than just fitness. Through her research with ISSA, she found the Health Coach Certification and embraced it wholeheartedly.

Despite her new certification, Lindsie initially felt uncertain about how to launch her health coaching career independently. This changed when she attended a webinar hosted by Flowell, a platform designed to support health coaches. The webinar, led by the charismatic Jessica, resonated with Lindsie and provided the guidance she needed. “I had the certification but didn’t know what to do next,” she admits. Flowell’s comprehensive program and individual coaching sessions were instrumental in boosting her confidence and equipping her with the tools to create effective programs for her clients.

Coaching Specialization

Lindsie’s specialty as a health coach emerged through both personal connections and professional observations. Her first health coaching client, referred by her husband, suffered from high blood pressure and other symptoms linked to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Helping this client achieve regular periods and overall wellness was a transformative experience for Lindsie.

Her background as an ER nurse also played a crucial role. “I saw many women with PCOS coming in for pain management,” she notes. Recognizing the prevalence and the impact of PCOS, Lindsie decided to focus her efforts on helping women manage this condition. Research revealed that at least 12% of women suffer from PCOS, with up to 90% of them struggling with being overweight or obese. Lindsie felt called to address this critical need, particularly in weight loss and overall management of PCOS.

Building a Virtual Practice

Today, Lindsie’s practice is predominantly virtual, allowing her the flexibility to manage her schedule while reaching clients across different states, including Florida, North Carolina, and New York. Her efforts are supported by Flowell, which has helped her refine her social media presence and client engagement strategies. Referrals and word-of-mouth have been vital in growing her client base, especially among women seeking guidance for PCOS.

Advice for Aspiring Health Coaches

For those considering a career in health coaching, Lindsie emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach. “You’re focusing on the person’s health and well-being, not just one aspect of it,” she says. She encourages aspiring coaches to seek comprehensive training and support, recommending help from Flowell to streamline the process and provide essential guidance.

Lindsie’s story is marked with continuous learning and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. Her transition from nursing to health coaching exemplifies how passion, combined with the right certifications and support, can lead to a fulfilling and impactful career.
